Exploring Barri Gotic at Barceló Raval

Exploring Barri Gotic at Barceló Raval

The Barcelo Raval is located in the very heart of Rambla del Raval, which is a stones throw away from La Ramblas and the Gothic Quarter you will find this very quirky and eccentric 4 star hotel.

The lobby is part check in area and part restaurant / lounge, aptly named The B-Lounge. Conceived by renowned interior designer Jordi Galí, this multipurpose area mixes dark and brooding tones with an eclectic mixture of dark coloured furniture that is emphasized by the use of neon pink and white lighting features to deliver a dramatic and atmospheric space. At night, the B-Lounge becomes a fashionable meeting place for the general public and guests to whittle the night away quaffing cocktails and tapas. To one side you find the Cyber Corner where an array of computers are offered for all that you need to do online, along with free wifi.

The Barceló Raval, offers guests a choice of 186 rooms, from Superior through to Junior Suites. All offer nice views and each room has what is described as anavant-garde design and set up. They are well decorated and work off an open plan in arrangement. The biggest surprise is perhaps the fact that the bathroom is actually integrated into the room rather than being a separate area. This might be somehow looked upon as cutting edge but in practice is a little impractical. So too the inability to open the toilet and the wardrobe at the same time. It is definitely something different!

Strange quirks aside, the Superior Rooms are sophisticated (a little small at 25 m²) but do come relatively well equipped for both business trips and short breaks in Barcelona, with free wifi and Nespresso Machines. Blending Lime green accents with a predominately white backdrop, the room is completely transformed at night by the use of lighting. The lighting style is neon Barcelona which attempts to blend a fun nightclub sensibility with classic touches like the black filigree wall coverings. It kind of works and is an obvious extension of the Lobby's visual appeal but it must be said that this distinct and playful vibe wouldn't be for everyone. The Barceló Raval hotel also offers an innovative breakfast concept - the B-Breakfast, where the hotel staff leaves a bag containing juice, water, yoghurt, rolls, toast, butter, jam and a piece of fruit, hung on your door.

The real star of the property is clearly the Barcelo 360° Terrace. This is where guests and visitors mingle and enjoy probably the best panoramic views of Barcelona, with a cocktail in hand of course! The terrace also has a 15 m³ pool and a solarium but doesn't appear to be used that much. Day or night, the Terrace is the perfect place to relax and just hang out and take in the outstanding views.

In addition, the terrace has a bar and viewing point on the 11th floor and this is where brunch is split between and the B-Lounge, for just 25 Euros you can indulge in a range of culinary options, a live DJ and some great views.

With so much going on Barcelona, you will find it difficult not to get out and explore and the location of this Hotel is perfect to do just that. This is a dynamic, and multicultural neighborhood with a large choice of restaurants, bars and shops, so you will not be left wanting for options as you walk the local area. This property is absolutely worth the stop over to explore the Barri Gòtic area of the city in particular.

With cheerful service and a great location that is walking distance to La Boqueria, Güell Palace - Palau Güell as well as the Columbus Monument and waterfront, Barcelo Raval with its expressive pops of color feels energetic and free just like the city.
